"We need to get the president to get the Republican House in order," Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., said on the Senate floor. "Without Republican cooperation, we cannot pass this bill."
Schumer said Bush should also "respectfully tell Sen. McCain to get out of town. He is not helping, he is harming. Before Sen. McCain made his announcement, we were making progress."
I guess Senator Schumer thinks the people of Arizona are not important in what all describe as the worst financial crisis since at least WWII. Last I looked, both McCain and Obama are still sitting Senators. Just because they are running for the highest office in the land does not mean their responsibilities to their constituents stops. Lets just toss the Constitution out the window on this one. Go home Senator, you don't count?
If you live in Arizona, I would suggest you call Schumer and tell him to confine his statements to the representation of his own state. McCain has every right to make an impact on the events of the day. Once again, eastern elitism coupled with hypocritical statements from Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi proves they only wish for power, not a solution.
Critics of Senator McCain, are all using the same "talking points memo" accusing him of grandstanding and using the situation for political aggrandizement. Say what you will, I am sure that McCain will not be voting present on this bill. Incidentally, the lies about there being a "deal" are not true and McCain's presence did not derail a "deal." I am so tired of the Democrats twisting facts and out right lying. Several Democrats actually spilled the beans that there was no deal to derail. Yet, all I see out of them is accusations and alacrity.
What happened to reaching across the aisle? It is all well and good when the Republicans do it yet I never see a Democrat do it. This one way road is the core of the problem. Yes it is a two-lane road in every argument, but that does not mean the lanes are the same width. Equivocation is almost always wrong to base any argument. Yet, the Democrats seem to equivocate everything. If one Republican Congressman does one thing, then the theory is that they all do it. But when a Democrat is caught with his hands in a cookie jar, they castigate the accuser.
When will Americans see through this BS? Paulsen was the one who asked McCain to come back and the Democrats just simply leave such facts out. Here, in this case, who is actually politicizing the issue? Democrats must not own mirrors, because as they point the accusatory finger, they fail to see that it is they who are the culprits. They really do think you are stupid America, and if you keep swallowing the kool-aid and acting out of emotion instead of reason, you will get what you asked for!!

I'm so sick of this from the Democrats. They could pass a bill if they wanted to, they don't want to "OWN" it when all is said and done. They are so in the tank for Obama, they put him and his election before the American people.
Right Truth
I hope the people think long and hard about what would happen if we had a democratic Nancy Pelosi liberal congress and a liberal president. The democrats will destroy this country if they have total control of the federal government.
Schumer and Dodd our dispicable public servants but will their consituents see it that way ?
how can you all STILL forget that for the past 8 years YOUR republican party has run this country into the ground causing what most (if not all) financial experts are calling THE worst financial crisis since the great depression?!?!?! It makes me Sick to read your comments about how the democrats killed this bill when the numbers do not lie (like your vp candidate seems to do evwrytime her lips part)!! The REPUBLICANS KILLED THIS BILL! The Republicans ran this nation into the ground. The REPUBLICANS spin every thing they say to misrepresent facts to sideswipe Americans into forgetting what is really the problem.. THE CONSERVATIVE, MONEY HUNGRY, INEFFECTIVE REPUBLICAN PARTY. Perhaps you should watch something other than fox news and read more than just your own blogs!!
Christopher,
I read everything I can lay my hands on including the Daily Kos, The Boston Globe, the New York Times, The Washington Post, Talking Points Memo, The Huffington Post....should I go on further?
I am pleased that you do read some of the right of center material. That is to your credit. However, as I know that this Bush administration and the Republican held congress of two years ago spent like drunken sailors, it does not change the fact that this debacle is directly attributable to Barney Frank and the democrats.
Ask yourself, who was in charge of Freddy and Fanny? Democrats; who raped and pillaged the system. Dodd personally benefited and Obama received large amounts of money from all the democrat party hacks at those organizations.
Check your facts before blaming the Republicans wholesale. The road is a two way street, but both lanes are not always equal. By the way, how come 95 Democrats voted against that piece of junk legislation?
Oh, my mistake; a republican throws one rock and he is just as bad as the Democrat who threw 100. Moral equivication is the standar in the Democrat party.
Here's your kool-aid, drink up!
